Join Eric Lopez and Trace Trylko as they debate some of the current topics surrounding UCF Athletics. In this episode, the guys continue their preview of UCF Football fall camp based on the first week and a half of practice. One of the new faces for the 2023-24 UCF Basketball team is guard Shemarri Allen. As a 5th year senior, Allen brings experience and leadership to a Knights squad transitioning to life in the Big 12.<br /><br />Allen and his teammates will be playing against some top competition in Italy from August 6th through August 16th
UCF Basketball guard Darius Johnson is one of only a few returning players for the 2023-24 squad. His leadership and playmaking ability will be relied upon to help the Knights transition into the Big 12.<br /><br />Johnson shared his thoughts on the Knights European tour, which has them playing several games in Italy from August 6th through the 16th
One of the young stars on the UCF Knights defense is CB Brandon Adams. After seeing significant time on the field as a young player, Adams will have an opportunity to continue to see playing time in 2023. <br /><br />The Knights defense will have some new faces under first year coordinator Addison Williams, and they look to be more aggressive as they join the Big 12.
The UCF Knights defense in 2023 will feature a few new names and faces, but one of the veteran hold-overs is CB Corey Thornton. Thornton played heavy reps on the 2022 defense, and his leadership and experience will be important for the 2023 squad.<br /><br />Under new defensive coordinator Addison Williams the Knight will look to return to an aggressive style of defense to compete in their first season in the Big 12.

The UCF offensive line is considered to be one of the deepest in school history, and it includes Tylan Grable, who started at left tackle for the majority of the 2022 season. <br /><br />Coming off of an injury, Grable is looking to continue to get healthy and work his way onto the field for 2023, the first for the Knights in the Big 12.
UCF Punter Mitch McCarthy will be counted on to lead the punt team for the Knights in 2023. After a solid first season as the main punter, McCarthy will also handle holding duties for field goals and extra points. <br /><br />A native of Australia, McCarthy has had a lot to learn as he transitions to American Football, but relies on his teammates for support and guidance.
UCF Football wraps up the first week of the 2023 fall camp with a closed scrimmage in the Bounce House. Head Coach Gus Malzahn spoke with the media after and seemed pleased with what he saw out of the roughly 100 play contest. <br /><br />Offensively, Quarterback John Rhys Plumlee applauded the effort of his unit, but recognized that they still needed to get in better game shape to take advantage of their explosive offense.<br /><br />On defense, captain Josh Celiscar was satisfied with the job the defense did, which produced two turnovers. <br /><br />Fall Camps continues for the Knights through August 31st, when they open the season at home vs Kent State.
