Home E Big 12 E Big 12 Football Preview Week 13

As the Big 12 regular season concludes this holiday weekend, it will all be decided as to which two teams will play for the conference title on December 2nd at Jerry World. 7th Ranked Texas still holds the top stop. They clinch home field in the championship game with a win over Texas Tech in their Friday night battle at 7:30 on ABC. We will get to additional scenarios in a moment if the Red Raiders pull off the upset.
In the other Friday tilt, 14th ranked Oklahoma faces off against TCU at 12 noon on FOX. The Sooners will still be alive, win or lose.
Breaking down the scenarios. If Texas wins Friday, the Oklahoma State – BYU matchup on Saturday at 3:30 on ABC could have the 23rd ranked Cowboys getting to the title game with a win over the Cougars. Meanwhile, if Texas and Oklahoma win Friday and Oklahoma State loses to BYU, the Sooners advance to play Texas in the championship.
Now, if 21st ranked Kansas State takes down Iowa State on Saturday night at 8pm on FOX and that follows a Texas win and losses by Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, The Wildcats get the champ game matchup with the Longhorns.
Got all that? Now here’s where it gets messy. If Texas Tech upsets Texas on Friday: Texas still gets in if two or three of the two loss teams, Kansas State, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State lose this weekend. Now, if two or three of the two-loss teams win, there could be three or four teams tied for both Championship game berths. It then would go to a litany of tiebreakers to which how that would break is high end calculus.
In other games, West Virginia takes on Baylor, Saturday night at 7:00 on FS1. #25 Kansas drops in on Cincinnati, 7:30 on ESPN2. And UCF plays their home finale at the Bounce House on Saturday at noon on FS1. The way my predictions are going lately, I’m tempted to pick the Cougars to fade the Knights into a victory to get bowl eligible.
Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy all the football this weekend.
