CHAMPIONSHIP Week Official Picks

This week we have a pick on EVERY P5/G5 CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. Have a little fun, responsibly, throw these in a parlay and let’s ride this weekend! We will have a pick for Army/Navy the following week, and then occasional bowl game picks throughout December. Keep an eye out and sign up for the Sons of UCF bowl challenge starting soon! Now, on to championship game picks!

New Mexico State Aggies @ #24 Liberty Flames

Friday 12/1, 7:00 PM, CBSSN

My Pick: Total Points (Over 53.5)

I got this line at open, and it’s been best over the key number of 56, so wager wisely. Diego Pavia of New Mexico State is an explosive player and proved this against Auburn. Liberty has average 40.1 points per game on offense.

#5 Oregon Ducks vs #3 Washington Huskies

Friday 12/1, 8:00 PM, ABC

My Pick: Washington (+9.5)

This was an all-time classic in week 7. I expect this game to be another shootout. With playoff implications, and the last PAC-12 title on the line, I think 9.5 points is too many. I think the game goes down to the last possession.

Miami OH RedHawks @ Toledo Rockets

Saturday 12/2, 12:00 PM, ESPN

My Pick: Miami OH (+8)

This is a rematch from October 21st, a 21-17 Toledo victory. While Toledo has blown most teams out, Miami OH is no slouch. The Miami OH RedHawks rely on their defense holding opponents to an average of 10.25 points per game during their last 4 games. Again, more than a touchdown is too many points in what should be a low scoring affair.

#18 Oklahoma State Cowboys vs #7 Texas Longhorns

Saturday 12/2, 12:00 PM, ABC

My Pick: Total Points (Under 54.5)

This feels like another game where each team will attempt to establish the line of scrimmage. This will be a running back matchup between Oklahoma State’s Ollie Gordon II (Big12 First Team) and Texas RB Jonathan Brooks (Big12 2nd Team). I expect the clock to run a lot and stay under the key number of 54!

Boise State Broncos @ UNLV Rebels

Saturday 12/2, 3:00 PM, Fox

My Pick: UNLV (+3)

Boise State is in an interesting situation. I’m not sure it’s ever happened where an FBS program has fired their head coach mid-season and still played for a conference championship. Broncos QB Taylen Green is also starting after losing his job to now injured QB Maddux Madsen. UNLV should also have a serious home field advantage as they haven’t had a season this successful since 1984 when they went 11-2. Allegiances Stadium should be rocking!

App State Mountaineers @ Troy Trojans

Saturday 12/2, 4:00 PM, ESPN

My Pick: Troy (-6)

Easy pick, Troy has boat raced almost every Sun Belt team they have played not named James Madison. While JMU should be playing in their second Sun Belt title game, they are still in “transition” according to the NCAA. Troy has beat all other Sun Belt teams by an average margin of 18.75 points. We are safe to lay the 6 here.

SMU Mustangs @ #22 Tulane Green Wave

Saturday 12/2, 4:00 PM, ABC

My Pick: SMU (+3.5)

This has field goal or less, and maybe an SMU win written all over it. While Tulane holds the home field advantage, they are also battling a few key injuries. SMU has been surging lately and is peaking at the right time. The Mustangs are seeking their only American Conference title there last year before departing for the ACC in 2024.

#1 Georgia Bulldogs vs #8 Alabama Crimson Tide

Saturday 12/2, 4:00 PM, CBS

My Pick: Total Points (Under 55.5)

Georgia scores 39.6 points per game and allows 16.5 points. Alabama scores 35.6 points per game and allows 18.6 points. I feel a defensive struggle in this game as both teams are facing one of the best defenses on their schedule. This line has come down but is still a hook above a key number at 54.5.

#14 Louisville Cardinals vs #4 FSU Seminoles

Saturday 12/2, 8:00 PM, ABC

My Pick: Louisville (+3.5)

Florida State has come into some of the worst football luck that you can. Star QB Jordan Travis is out for the rest of the season with a terrible leg injury, and Louisville will look to spoil their playoff aspirations. After coming off a terrible loss to Kentucky, Louisville will likely play an emotionally inspired game behind RB Jawhar Jordan. Take the field goal.

#2 Michigan Wolverines vs #16 Iowa Hawkeyes

Saturday 12/2, 8:00 PM, Fox

My Pick: Iowa (+23)

Iowa has allowed a team to score more than 23 points just one time this season (31 pts allowed against Penn State in week 4). The toughest matchup Michigan has had through its first 9 weeks of play was 6-6 Rutgers (3-6 in the Big Ten). Their last three games (against Penn State, Maryland, and Ohio State) they’ve averaged 28.3 points while allowing 21 points. Give me the 23, and give me Iowa’s defense to slow down Michigan enough to cover the spread.
